CREATING A DATA MODEL
Overview
On the Data Model blade, Users can create a Data Model within the 3DB Model Space.
Nodes and Links are the elements used to create a Data Model.
Your permission settings may result in some menu icons not being visible.

Create a Data Model

Select Database | Data Model from the menu to open the Data Model blade.
Access to at least one Node Group and one Node Type is required before features on the Data Model blade are enabled. Refer to ‘Working with Node Groups‘ for a description on how to assign access

In the Nodes pane, double click a Node Group name to reveal Node Types within the selected Group.

Click and drag a Node Type into the 3DB Model Space. Releasing the Node defines the default position and automatically saves the Node within the Data Model.

Click the new Node to select it. Press F2 and enter the name of the Node. Press the Enter key to save the name. Click the 3DB Model Space background to deselect the Node.

To add additional Nodes from a different Node Group, click the Return to Node Groups icon and double click a different Node Group to reveal different Node Types. Repeat steps 3 & 4.

To add a relationship between two Nodes, click the Links tab in the Nodes pane to view the Link types. Select the Link to be used for adding relationships between Nodes.

Within the 3DB Model Space, hover over a Node to reveal the Add New Link icon . Click and hold over the icon then drag the cursor to the destination Node. Release the cursor to display the Link between the Nodes.
Links are directional making it possible for Nodes to have both incoming and outgoing relationships.
