WORKING WITH NODE TYPES
Overview
In a Kradle data model, a Node stores information and Links represent relationships between connected Nodes. Nodes in Kradle are defined by their Type.
Each Node Type can have up to fifty (50) user-defined properties with their associated value/content.
Your permission settings may result in some menu icons not being visible.
Create Node Type
A Node Group must be created before a Node Type is added to the Group. You can create as many Node Types as needed.
- Select Data Visualizer | Node Builder from the menu to open the Node Builder blade.
- Double click the name of the Node Group where you intend to create Node Types.
- Select the Add New Type iconand enter the following:
- Name for the Node Type
- Select the Browse Library icon to add an icon for your new Node Type
- A color for the Node Type icon
- Select a Layer for the Node Type using the up/down arrows . To enable a User to move Nodes (on the Data Model blade) from one Layer to another, the Green Tick icon should be visible beside Move Nodes Between Layers. To prevent movement of Nodes, click the Move Nodes Between Layers link to display the Red Cross icon
Nodes are located on up to ten ‘virtual’ Layers.
Layer #1 is the default Layer. Name each Layer according to your needs and then locate similar Nodes on the same Layer.
On the Data Model blade, toggle each Layer on or off to reveal or hide Nodes.
By enabling Move Nodes Between Layers, a User can move a Node to a different Layer
4. Under Node Type properties, enter the name of a node property. Add additional properties by selecting the Add Type Property icon . To highlight a property as a ‘required’ field, select the ‘checkbox’ adjacent to the property. A red frame will be displayed. Change the sort order of properties by clicking and dragging a property to its new location.
5. Click the Save icon.
6.The new Node Type will be added to the Node Group.
7. Select the Return icon to display the Node Groups.
Edit Node Type
- Select Data Visualizer | Node Builder from the menu to open the Node Builder blade.
- Double click the Node Group that contains the Node Type you intend to edit.
- Single click the Node Type you intend to edit. Details of that Node Type are displayed.
- Edit Node Type details as required.
- Click the Save icon.
- Select the Return icon to display the Node Groups.
Delete Node Type
- Select Data Visualizer | Node Builder from the menu to open the Node Builder blade.
- Double click the name of the Node Group that contains the Node Type you intend to delete.
- Single click the Node Type you intend to delete.
- Click the Delete icon to delete the Node Type.
If there are Node(s) belonging to the Type, the Delete Node Type function is disabled. The Node count indicates how many Nodes belong to the Type.
The Node count must be zero (0) before a Type can be deleted.
